Teaching CVC: Short E
Consonant – Vowel – Consonant was designed to slowly introduce young learners to blending. The words are relatively easy due to only using single sounds and applying a one, two, three step motion which is easy to learn. I recommend before CVC, you should do the following:
- Review the single sounds with the phonics song
- Practice their vowel pronunciations.
- When teaching the words, put more emphasis on the sounds so the students can pick them up.
- Get them to sound out each individual letter first then blend them all at the end.
