Mr Greg’s English Cloud: A Month In

,

It is near the end of March and what a month it has been for Mr Greg’s English Cloud! I started up this website just after the first week of March and it has exceeded my expectations. I can’t express my gratitude enough to those who have came to my website and looked at my resources.

Steady Growth

What I have noticed the most is obviously the amount of traffic I have been getting. Not in my wildest dreams did I think I’d be achieving the numbers that I am getting. To put it in perspective, when my website went live I was only getting around 100 views per day. Most of those views probably came from myself checking if the website was functional, and my dear my mum who continues to support me!

Today, my website reaches over 1000 views per day from many different countries. My visitor count is steadily increasing, encouraging me to do more for my audience. For those who ask what my strategy has been for raising awareness of my website, I have been focusing on these main things;

  • Consistent quality content. Giving a reason for people to return to my website and expanding it’s range.
  • Making a community on Facebook to raise more awareness and share resources with other professions.
  • Sharing my content within the industry and building up my reputation online.

Anyone who plans or has a website I highly advise to engage in your market. I am a teacher and I have been posting in teacher related groups. My resources were intended to be redistributed and shared between teachers. The best way for my resources to get noticed is to highlight them within these targeted groups.

Mr Greg’s English Cloud: Social Media

Facebook has played a massive part to the growth of my website. When I introduced a Facebook page and group in to the fold, my visitors shot up. My Facebook page reached over 10,000 likes and followers yesterday and it continues to increase in size.

What is the future of my social media approach? I plan to diverse onto more platforms. A highly populated platform is Twitter. I am still pondering whether it is applicable for my website as time is of the essence. I don’t want to be inactive on any of the social media platforms that I am on, as I believe activity is key to building the ‘brand’.

What is Next?

Looking ahead, I won’t be changing my strategy that much. I still plan to make daily content and to build on my Facebook page and group. Working full time is demanding and you can’t gain extra time in the day unfortunately. My only spare time is either in the evenings or weekend, but I can’t be working on my website all the time, I need some down time!

That saying, this journey has really motivated me to continue to do more. This is a hobby for me and I enjoy the process. What is my dream? For this to be bigger than my wildest dreams.

Once again, thank you all again for coming to my website and using my resources. Stop and say hi on my Facebook page or even Linkedin if you want to connect!
