Primary Worksheets: Polar Bear
Primary worksheets on the topic of the polar bear designed for primary school students. A basic passage with questions at the end to answer, testing the students comprehension levels.
The polar bear, also known as the sea/ice bear, are the world’s largest land predators. They can be found in the Artic and other countries that have covered seas of the Northern Hemisphere. There are around 25,000 to 40,000 polar bears that roam the Artic.
Male polar bears can grow up to 10 feet tall and weigh over 1400 pounds. Females are smaller in size, reaching 7 feet and weighing around 650 pounds. In the wild they can live up to the age of 25.
Female polar bears can start breeding at the age of four or five. They dig a cave in a large snow drift to have their litter. Usually, they only have two cubs per litter. When born, a polar bear cub can be as small as a rat, weighing just over a pound. In a year they can grow to the same size as a man if they have lots of food.

Basic Tips
When teaching a new concept to a student, make it as visual as possible. Concepts become more comprehensible. A standard lesson should follow this basic structure:
- Introduction: gather what knowledge the students have on the topic. Assess and evaluate your level to base how much assistance they require throughout the lesson
- Concept: teaching the actual topic of the lesson. Highlight the difficulty the students are having and apply the appropriate action. For example, if they do not understand the meaning of a word, get them to highlight it for further studying in the future.
- Evaluation: conclude the lesson by getting the students to feedback what you have taught. Ensure they comprehend the topic and know the main points.
Build the confidence level of students through active participation. Encourage projects for them to do what they have learnt into practical use. The more engaging the lesson is, the better the result.
